At a glance
Hood Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter for Windows, developed and published by Trapstar Games. It launched on Steam on 8 October 2026. Rival gangs compete in a fictional version of Chicago, built in Unreal Engine 5.
The mode determines what counts toward a win. Two modes focus on kills; the others use territory, a stolen bag, a bomb or collected chains. Use the table below to check the objective before choosing a match.
Game modes and scoring
These are the six modes described on the Steam store. The last column explains the scoring distinction; it is not a claim about a tested strategy.
| Mode | Objective | What counts |
|---|---|---|
| Turf War | Capture and hold territory. | Your gang earns points from controlled territory. |
| GangBang | Fight as one of two rival gangs. | Team kills decide the result. |
| Chaos | Free-for-all combat. | The individual with the most kills wins. |
| Hit A Lick | Bring the opposing gang’s bag back to your hood. | The bag is the objective; your own bag also needs defending. |
| Destroy The Block | Plant or defuse the bomb. | One life per round makes this different from a respawn-based kill race. |
| Chain Snatch | Collect chains dropped by defeated players. | Enemy chains score; recovering friendly chains denies the other team. |
Maps and environments
Steam highlights Downtown, Suburbs, The Trenches and Chicago Mall. Treat these as the named environments in the store description, rather than a complete map list for every version. The 1.0.10 announcement also mentions a supermarket map.
No official overhead layouts or spawn coordinates are included in these sources. We therefore keep this section to confirmed names instead of drawing routes or claiming control points we have not checked.
Online matches, bots and private lobbies
The developer describes online play with friends and other players. For bot matches, you can choose the map, game mode and match settings; bots can also fill teams. That makes the bot setup an option for seeing a mode’s rules without relying on a full human lobby.
Patch 1.0.1.4 adds password-protected private lobbies. If you are looking for a friends-only room, that is the feature named in the announcement. The source does not provide a player limit or a complete sequence of lobby-menu screens.
Voice chat during a match
Patch 1.0.10 adds voice chat with the whole lobby or just your team. T is the default push-to-talk key, and an open-mic option is available. The later 1.0.1.4 notes address missing audio and direct players to select an output device in settings.
Steam’s Single-player label appears alongside the developer’s bot-match description. It does not establish a separate story campaign. This guide covers the match systems documented in the store and launch-week announcements.
